Los Angeles Lakers forward Jake LaRavia is turning a brief viral moment into an early-season breakout.
On Nov. 2, 2025, at Crypto.com Arena, the 22-year-old scored 25 points with eight rebounds, three assists and four steals in a 118-109 victory over the Miami Heat. The performance followed a 27-point, eight-rebound outing in Minneapolis that launched the Lakers’ current three-game win streak.
The Minnesota game drew attention when a fan asked, “Who is number 12?” Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, sidelined by injury, replied, “That’s what I’m saying! I don’t know.” The exchange spread quickly on social media.
LaRavia said he embraced the moment. “I kind of put my hands up like, ‘Who’s number 12?’” he recalled after Sunday’s home win. “I’m not well-known right now, so I’m just keeping my head down and working hard.” He added, “Shout-out to Anthony Edwards for allowing that clip to go viral.”
Head coach JJ Redick praised the third-year wing’s fit with Los Angeles. “With Jake, it was just another great game,” Redick said. “He’s allowing the game to come to him. He’s comfortable with the off-ball stuff, the cutting, just reading the game. He’s a great complement to our main guys.”
Redick noted he wants LaRavia to treat the Timberwolves performance as a reference point moving forward. Early returns suggest the forward is doing exactly that, giving Los Angeles unexpected production on both ends of the floor.
