Los Angeles, CA — The Lakers will be without Luka Doncic for at least the next week after the guard suffered a sprained finger on his left hand and a contusion to his lower left leg, the team announced Sunday.

According to the statement, Doncic will be re-evaluated in approximately seven days. A source told The Athletic’s Dan Woike that the franchise does not expect the injuries to have any long-term impact.

The timing means the Slovenian star is expected to sit out the Lakers’ next four contests: Sunday’s matchup in Sacramento, a home game against Portland, Wednesday’s road tilt in Minnesota, and Friday’s visit to Memphis. Los Angeles returns to Crypto.com Arena to face Miami next Sunday, when his status will be reassessed.

Doncic, acquired by the Lakers in the offseason, has been a focal point of the team’s early-season offense. His absence shifts additional back-court responsibilities to fellow guards D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves as Los Angeles navigates a demanding stretch of the schedule.
