Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller has been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Wizards because of soreness in his left shoulder, the team announced Saturday.

The 6-foot-8 swingman headed to the locker room with 10:50 remaining in the second quarter of Saturday’s 112-98 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers. He was seen clutching his left arm while leaving the floor and did not return. In nine minutes, Miller recorded four points and one assist and did not speak with reporters after the game.

Miller opened the season Wednesday with 25 points and seven assists in a victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The former Alabama star, selected No. 2 overall in the 2023 NBA draft behind San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama, was limited to 27 games last season after surgery in January to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist.
