The NBA G League completed its 2025-26 draft on Saturday, bringing together all 30 NBA affiliate clubs and the Mexico City Capitanes for two rounds of selections.
South Bay Lakers, the Los Angeles Lakers’ affiliate, used the No. 1 overall pick on forward Dillon Jones. The 23-year-old Weber State product was chosen in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, appeared sparingly as a rookie, then was traded to the Washington Wizards and waived. Jones averaged 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 10.2 minutes per game last season. While his G League rights now belong to South Bay, he remains eligible to sign with any NBA team.
The Osceola Magic followed at No. 2 with forward Tyler Smith, who was released by the Milwaukee Bucks last week after just missing a roster spot. Smith, 20, previously played for the now-disbanded G League Ignite and went 33rd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Capital City Go-Go, Washington’s affiliate, held three of the first six picks, and the opening round also featured selections of second-generation prospects Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Jabri Abdur-Rahim, son of G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
