Veteran center DeAndre Jordan has agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Friday.

The Pelicans confirmed the signing without releasing financial details. Jordan, 37, is expected to be in uniform Friday night when New Orleans hosts the San Antonio Spurs.

New Orleans is seeking depth in the frontcourt while All-Star forward Zion Williamson continues to manage his workload and starting center Kevon Looney sits out with a left knee injury. In Wednesday’s season-opening loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the club relied on Yves Missi and rookies Derik Queen and Hunter Dickinson to patrol the paint. Missi, who sprained his right ankle in that game, is listed as day-to-day and is questionable for Friday.

Jordan enters his 18th NBA season after three years with the Denver Nuggets, where he won a championship in 2023. Last season he appeared in 56 games—his highest total since 2020-21—averaging 3.7 points and 5.1 rebounds over 12.3 minutes.

The three-time All-NBA selection has played 1,111 regular-season games, starting 791, across stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and now the Pelicans.
